Universal Audio Apollo Twin X DUO Gen 2
A compact desktop Thunderbolt interface with two Unison microphone preamps, next-generation conversion and DUO Core UAD processing.
Apollo Twin X DUO Gen 2 is designed for musicians, producers and engineers who want the full Apollo recording workflow in a compact desktop format. It combines premium conversion, tactile monitor control, low-latency UAD processing and two Unison-enabled preamps in a unit that fits naturally into a writing room, production studio or mobile setup.
Compact Apollo Workflow
Twin X acts as both the recording interface and monitor controller of a desktop studio. Its large central encoder gives direct access to monitor level, preamp gain and headphone volume, while dedicated controls make it quick to mute, dim, select inputs and manage everyday recording tasks without constantly returning to software.
Two Unison Microphone Preamps
The two microphone inputs support Universal Audio Unison technology. Compatible UAD preamp, channel-strip and amplifier plug-ins can change the physical input impedance and gain-stage behaviour of the Apollo hardware, creating a closer interaction between analogue input stage and software model than a conventional insert plug-in.
DUO Core UAD Processing
Two SHARC DSP cores provide realtime processing for compatible UAD plug-ins in UAD Console. This is well suited to focused vocal, instrument and production sessions where a few premium plug-ins are used while recording. Engineers expecting larger realtime chains or more simultaneous inputs should consider the QUAD model or Apollo x4.

Realtime UAD Recording
Apollo uses onboard UAD-2 DSP to run compatible UAD plug-ins in realtime through the UAD Console application. Musicians can hear compression, EQ, ambience, guitar processing and Unison preamp models while recording, with very low monitoring latency and without placing the entire processing load on the host computer.
UAD Console and Studio Integration
UAD Console handles input routing, monitor paths, cue mixes and realtime plug-in chains. Apollo desktop interfaces can also be incorporated into larger compatible Apollo systems, making it possible to retain the familiar desktop controls while adding rackmount I/O and further DSP later.
